TopSpec Linseed Mash combines the best of traditional knowledge with modern technology. Rich in linseed and oatbran, this mash contains just 11% starch, yet the scattering of flaked maize and flaked peas lends a mix-like appearance to this irresistible mash. The mash is a blend of conditioning ingredients, with an emphasis on linseed providing substantial levels of oil and protein, and including the all-important muco-polysaccharides. Oatbran provides good levels of superfibres and has been proven to be sympathetic to the horse’s digestive system. The highly digestible fibre in this mash helps to promote the beneficial bacteria in the hindgut, therefore helping to maintain a healthy digestive system. The high oil formula, combined with good fibre levels, makes Linseed Mash more sympathetic to the equine digestive system than high-starch feeds.Linseed Mash soaks quickly in 5 minutes. It has a good conditioning index of 13 MJ/kg; however, once soaked, this figure will be reduced as fed. It is the weight of dry feed that contributes 13 MJ/kg, not the weight of soaked feed.Salt, magnesium oxide, and limestone are added to the blend to provide optimum levels of sodium, magnesium, and calcium, thus overcoming the major problems associated with the use of straights.Linseed Mash is suitable for: Horses having difficulty chewing, e.g. elderly horses with dental problems. Horses that need hydrating, e.g. away from home, during the winter, or after hard work. Horses that need to gain weight but need a mash. Situations where a diet high in Omega-3 fatty acids is needed. Use as a carrier mash for supplements, balancers, and/or medication. Times when owners wish to feed a warm (less than 40°C) mash. Typical Nutritional Analysis: Oil: 10.0% Protein: 15.5% Fibre: 17.0% DE: 13.0 MJ/kg Starch: 11.0% Calcium (Ca): 1.0% Magnesium (Mg): 0.3% Typical Ingredients:Soya Hulls (GM), Micronised Linseed Meal, Linseed Expeller, Beet Pulp, Grass, High Fibre Oat By-Product, Oat Bran Flakes, Wheatbran, Flaked Maize, Molasses, Micronised Flaked Peas, Wheatfeed, Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Dicalcium Phosphate, Magnesium Oxide.
