Vitra Little Devil Wooden Doll Design Objects Gifting

Vitra Decoration Red Wood. Dimensions: L 4.6 x D 3 cm x H 14 cm. The designer Alexander Girard is one of the most important figures in the history of post-war American design, along with his colleagues George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. Girard's work was primarily focused on textile design, but he also was admired for his work as a graphic designer, furniture designer, set designer and interior designer. Girard brought to 20th century design a seductive and playful dimension that was missing from the austere aesthetics of classical modernism. Alexander Girard's Wooden Dolls are a large family of wooden figures that represent human and animal characters. Girard designed them in 1952 to decorate his own home in Santa Fe. These originals, which are part of the Girard inheritance in the Vitra Design Museum, were used as models for the current reproductions. Faithfully copied down to the smallest detail, the varied characters of the Wooden Dolls are still handmade and hand-painted today, just like the original versions by Alexander Girard. And even if they differ only in small details, each wooden figurine is its own individual product, truly unique in the world. Alexander Girard: ''I think only my creations that bring me personal satisfaction are worthy of production. ‘' > Flash sale: special price for a limited time only.
